Level 1 Charging
Level 1 charging is the slowest type of EV charging. It operates at 120 volts and charges at an average of approximately 3 miles of range per hour. If you do not drive long distances and primarily use your vehicle for around-town driving, Level 1 charging may be sufficient. However, in many situations it is not quite fast enough to keep up with daily driving needs.
Level 2 Charging
Level 2 charging is where the significant step up in performance is made. It operates at 240 volts and charges at an average of approximately 44 miles of range per hour, which is typically enough to fully charge a vehicle overnight. For most homeowners, Level 2 charging is the most practical and efficient residential solution.
Level 3 Charging (Supercharging)
Level 3 charging is considered supercharging. These systems require extremely high power demands and specialized voltage infrastructure. Due to the large electrical load, utility requirements, and zoning restrictions, Level 3 superchargers are not permitted to be installed at private residences.
