While we do not install boat lifts or boat motors, we provide the electrical wiring required to power them. The most common method is for the electrical wiring to be installed into a lift control box that is supplied and installed by the boat lift company or installer. Boat lift wiring is extremely sensitive, and one of the most critical aspects is voltage drop. Many machines and devices can tolerate slight variations in voltage and still operate properly — boat lifts are not as forgiving. Boat lifts require very specific voltage levels to operate correctly; improper voltage can result in poor performance or failure to operate. Another major factor is GFI protection. Boat lifts require very specific GFI trip timing and protection characteristics. The required millisecond response of the GFI device is critical to ensure both proper operation and safety.
