120V Under Cabinet Lighting

120-volt under cabinet lighting is most commonly used when replacing existing under cabinet fixtures. These fixtures come in fixed lengths and allow for faster installation when replacing existing systems. Due to fixed lengths, there is a possibility of hotspots or uneven lighting depending on cabinet layout.

Low Voltage Under Cabinet Lighting (Tape Light)

Low voltage tape light under cabinet lighting offers maximum flexibility and a clean, finished appearance. It can be installed in custom lengths, eliminating the possibility of hotspots and providing smooth, even light distribution. Tape light is installed inside an extrusion to reduce glare and create a sleek finished look. Low voltage under cabinet lighting operates at 24 volts instead of 120 volts and typically requires a complete replacement of existing under cabinet wiring. Low voltage wiring is run from each under cabinet lighting location to a single transformer location, and the existing wall switch is reworked to control the transformer.
